Step by step guide
When you call us we will arrange a free consultation at your home and will make a quick survey to your loft. Then we will advice you on what is most suitable for your house.
Planning Permission and Building Regulation Approval
Some loft conversions require planning permission but all of them require plans and building regulation approval. We can submit a planning application and Building Regulation application on your behalf.
Constructing your loft
When all drawings and structural calculations are ready and approved, the work begins:
installing timbers and steel beams – Structural design is checked and verified by structural engineer
constructing dormers – choosing the best dormer for your roof is one of the most important decisions
installing the windows – Velux roof windows with their 10 year guaranty and UPVC double glazed windows in dormers and gables
installing staircase – staircases must comply and meet all Building Regulation
insulation and ventilation – we’ll fully insolate and ventilate your loft according to Building Regulation
plumbing, heating and electrical – You will be supplied with all relevant certificates
walls and ceilings- lined with plasterboards internally and finished with skim coat of plaster
installing doors and all joinery
fire regulations – all loft conversions are subject to fire regulations as part of building regulations
painting and decorating
How long will it take? (standard loft conversion)
Design, drawings and structural calculations – 2 to 3 weeks
Planning permission (if required) – 7 to 9 weeks
Building Regulations approval – 1 to 8 weeks
Construction of Roof windows loft conversion – 6 to 7 weeks
Construction of Box dormer loft conversion – 8 to 9 weeks
